Effective 22 July09, tickets for travel originating London are entitled to the following free baggage allowances for adult and child

London-Amritsar or London-Amritsar-London

First Class 60kgs
Executive Class 50kgs
Economy Class 28kgs
 

London-Kathmandu or London–Kathmandu–London

First Class 50kgs
Executive Class 40kgs
Economy Class 35kgs
 

London-Dhaka or London–Dhaka–London

First Class 50kgs
Executive Class 40kgs
Economy Class 35kgs
 

London–South East /Far East or London–South East/Far East–London

Executive Class 40kgs
Economy Class 32kgs
 

London-Toronto or London-Toronto-London

First/Executive Class 2 pieces of 32kgs each
Economy 2 pieces of 23kgs each
 

This allowance is only applicable for tickets issued from London as a through fare (i.e. point to point) to India including domestic points via Mumbai or Delhi on AI/IC. It is not valid for separate sector fares used for travel on domestic India routes.
The weight of one piece must not exceed 32kgs as per EU regulation
The checked in baggage allowance for infants is 10Kgs.

Effective 01July09, tickets purchased in UK in GBP for travel from London are entitled to the following free baggage allowances for adult and child

 

London-India or London-India-London

First Class 60kgs
Executive Class 50kgs
Economy Class 28kgs
 

Special excess baggage rate to India : GBP 10 per kilo for the first 15kgs excess baggage. After that the normal excess baggage rate will apply. (This rate is only applicable to tickets purchased in UK for travel commencing from London to India.)

 

London-Kathmandu or London–Kathmandu–London

First Class 50kgs
Executive Class 40kgs
Economy Class 35kgs
 

London-Dhaka or London–Dhaka–London

Economy Class 35kgs
 

London–South East /Far East or London–South East/Far East–London

Executive Class 40kgs
Economy Class 32kgs
 
Note :

This allowance is only applicable for tickets issued from London as a through fare (i.e. point to point) to India including domestic points via Mumbai or Delhi on AI/IC. It is not valid for separate sector fares used for travel on domestic India routes. This allowance is applicable for ticketing effective 18Jun09 and is valid for outbound travel from London effective 01July09.
The weight of one piece must not exceed 32kgs as per EU regulation.

Free Baggage allowance for travel ex London
for tickets issued after 01 April 09.

Effective 01April09, tickets issued for travel from London-India or London-India-London are entitled to free baggage allowance for adult and child as below

 
First Class 60kgs
Executive Class 50kgs
Economy Class 46kgs
 

For travel between London and Kathmandu/Dhaka/S.E.Asia/Far East the free Baggage allowance in economy class is 32kgs

 
Note :

This allowance is only applicable for tickets issued from London as a through fare (i.e. point to point) to India including domestic points via Mumbai or Delhi on AI/IC. It is not valid for separate sector fares used for travel on domestic India routes. For points beyond India, checked baggage allowance in economy class will be 32kg i.e. to S.E Asia or Far East.
The weight of one piece must not exceed 32kgs as per EU regulation.
The checked in baggage allowance for infants is 10 KG.

Free baggage allowance USA-India

April 6, 2009

 

Economy class passengers travelling from JFK/EWR/ORD to India on AI flights will be permitted to carry 2 pieces of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 70 lbs (instead of 50lbs). This additional baggage allowance will apply on flights AI102/126/140/144 for travel during the period 19Mar to 30Apr, 2009. This offer is available for travel from USA to India only. For return travel the normal limit of 50lbs will apply. The baggage allowance for travel on other AI flights or any other airline remains unchanged.

Economy 20kgs (regular) + 10 kgs (additional) = 30 kgs (total)

The free baggage allowance for travel upto 31March09 has been enhanced on all classes of travel.

 

India-London/Paris

First 40kgs (regular) + 20 kgs (additional) = 60 kgs (total)
Executive 30kgs (regular) + 20 kgs (additional) = 50 kgs (total)
Economy 20kgs (regular) + 20 kgs (additional) = 40 kgs (total)
 

India-Frankfurt

First 40kgs (regular) + 10 kgs (additional) = 50 kgs (total)
Executive 30kgs (regular) + 10 kgs (additional) = 40 kgs (total)
Economy 20kgs (regular) + 10 kgs (additional) = 30 kgs (total)

for tickets issued between 16 Jan 09 and 31 Mar 09.

Economy class tickets for travel London-India or London-India-London issued between 16Jan and 31Mar09 are entitled to a free baggage allowance of 46kgs for adult/child.
This allowance is only applicable for tickets issued from London as a through fare (i.e. point to point) to India including domestic points via Mumbai or Delhi on AI/IC.
It is not valid for separate sector fares used for travel on domestic India routes.
For points beyond India, checked baggage allowance will be 32kg i.e. to S.E Asia or Far East.
The weight of one piece must not exceed 32kgs as per EU regulation.
The checked in baggage allowance for infants is 10 KG.

Free Baggage allowance for Travel London-India
for tickets issued between 09 Jan 09 and 15 Jan 09

Economy class tickets for travel London-India or London-India-London issued on or after 09Jan09, for outbound travel after 15Jan09 are entitled to free baggage allowance of 2 pieces of checked baggage weighing not more than 23 kilos each. If the checked in baggage exceeds piece allowance ( i.e 23 kg ) then an applicable excess baggage fee per kilo will be levied .
Checked in Baggage allowance for Infants is 10kgs.
This baggage allowance is applicable on all tickets issued on or after January 9, 2009 for travel effective 15Jan09 for Economy class passengers only.

Baggage Allowance India-London/Paris/Frankfurt

Economy class tickets issued on or before 31Jan09 for outbound travel before 31Mar09 are entitled to additional free baggage allowance of 20kgs for London and Paris and 10kgs for Frankfurt.
Passengers travelling from India to London and Paris will be entitled to total 40kgs of free baggage allowance and passengers travelling from India to Frankfurt will be entitled to total 30kgs free baggage allowance.
The tickets must be issued on or before 31Jan09 and the outbound travel should commence before 31Mar09.
