On the request of the Travel Trade Associations (TAAI/TAFI), Air India has agreed to the implementation of transaction fee model in India with effect from 16th July 2012 in terms of which travel agents would claim remuneration from their clients for services rendered by them.

Transaction Fee will be reflected against "OC" code, and will be shown on AI tickets by manual entries by travel agent.

The total amount of the transaction fee will be payable to the travel agent and Air India will not retain any part of it. The transaction fee amount as proposed by Travel Trade Bodies is appended below.


Domestic Sectors:


Transaction Fee

Economy Class Rs 225 per ticket
Executive/Business Class Rs 325 per ticket


The Transaction Fee applicable for sectors between India and South Asian Sub Continent (SASC) countries will be the same as that of Domestic sectors.


International Sectors:

  • Transaction Fee amount would be reflected on the ticket through OC code from 16th July 2012 to 15th July 2013. The Transaction Fee will not be reflected on the tickets beyond the Sunset date i.e. 15th July 2013.
  • The Transaction Fee collected through OC code on tickets and remitted by the Travel Agents to the airlines through Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP), will be reimbursed to the respective Travel Agents.
  • The Transaction Fee will be an all-inclusive fee.
  • The Transaction Fee is a flat amount and not percentage of the ticket value.
  • On request of the trade, AI has agreed to reflect the OC fee on its ticket for a specific period. It is not mandatory for Travel Agents to collect OC from their customers.
