Air India moves to Supreme Court
May 10, 2012
A section of Air India pilots belonging to IPG continued to disrupt international operations of the airline on Thursday, May 10, 2012 in gross violation of the restraining order of the Hon'ble Delhi High Court.
The agitation termed "illegal" by the court has resulted in disruption of international flights since May 7, 2012, inconveniencing thousands of valued passengers. On May 10, 2012 flights ex-Delhi to Chicago, New York, Toronto, Frankfurt, Paris, Shanghai, Jeddah and from Mumbai to Newark were cancelled.
Taking a serious view of the situation, Air India has terminated the services of a total of 46 pilots till now.
Air India has also filed a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court.
Air India is making all efforts to operate its flights and has also rescheduled some of its operations to minimize inconvenience to its passengers affected by the disruption of its flights. Efforts are also being made to accommodate passengers of disrupted flights on other airlines. In view of disruptions, Air India has also waived off penalties on refund, cancellations, date change and rebooking for passengers booked to travel up to May 14, 2012.
Domestic flights are unaffected by this agitation and are being operated normally as per schedule.
